About Salesforce
Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we’re looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce’s core values at the heart of it all.
Ready to level‑up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.
Slack is seeking a visionary Staff Engineer to architect and unify the future of our Source Control Management (SCM) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) systems. This is a unique and highly leveraged role, which empowers hundreds of Slack engineers by building and managing the foundational systems they use every day to ship code to millions of users.
We are a deeply technical group that lives and breathes Infrastructure as Code, leveraging a powerful stack that includes AWS, Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Go, and Python. You’ll be at the helm of evolving these critical systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure. One team specializes in the macOS and Windows environments that power CI/CD for our Mobile and Desktop applications, managing a complex fleet on AWS with bespoke tooling.
The other team manages our on‑premise Git Hub Enterprise server and the underlying Linux infrastructure for Buildkite and Git Hub Actions CI worker fleet.
We’re looking for a strategic leader who can unify the CI/CD vision across multiple teams. You will be the thought leader responsible for creating a cohesive, long‑term vision that spans all platforms and technologies. This is more than a technical role; you will define what’s next for developer velocity at Slack, from pioneering Agentic CI pipelines to influencing the SCM and CI/CD roadmap for the entire company.
Whatyou will be doing:
- Define and drive a unified technical vision and long‑term strategy for both Source Control Management (SCM) and CI/CD infrastructure across all of Slack.
- Architect and lead the implementation of scalable, observable, and resilient infrastructure across a hybrid environment of public cloud (AWS) using Infrastructure as Code principles (Terraform, Chef, Ansible) and on‑premise systems.
- Harmonize the technology and processes used across our Linux, macOS, and Windows CI fleets, driving towards shared standards, tooling, and observability (KPIs).
- Pioneer the integration of AI/ML technologies into our CI/CD pipelines to enhance developer productivity, automate complex workflows, and create “self‑driving” build and deployment systems.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor for engineers across multiple teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Lead complex, cross‑functional projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with company‑wide objectives and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.
- Improve and maintain existing services, balancing forward‑looking strategic work with the operational excellence (KTLO) required to keep our developers productive.
- Participate in our on‑call rotation to ensure the reliability and availability of our critical developer‑facing systems.
- Extensive experience (10+ years for Staff) in a Dev Ops, Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering role, with a proven track record of architecting and managing large‑scale, mission‑critical systems across diverse operating systems (Linux, macOS, Windows).
- Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and a strong command of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Chef, or Ansible.
- Experience managing and scaling Source Control Management systems, like Git Hub Enterprise, is highly desirable.
- Solid proficiency in scripting and programming…
