Photo Studio Technical Associate (Part-Time)
Location: San Francisco, CA (On‑Site Required)
Employment Type: W2 Contract – Part‑time (24 hrs per week)
Hourly Rate: $22.00–$25.00
We’re looking for a Technical Associate to deliver exceptional production support in a fast‑paced, high‑volume digital studio. The role blends IT support, studio operations, and workflow automation. You’ll be the primary Mac workstation support, manage hardware inventory, and keep studio infrastructure running smoothly while using AI tools to accelerate scripting and automation.
Key Responsibilities- Deploy and configure Macintosh workstations using Jamf; troubleshoot hardware and software issues for all studio staff.
- Calibrate monitors (Eizo/NEC) to maintain color accuracy across capture and retouch stations.
- Maintain studio infrastructure—including Wi‑Fi, network ports, Zoom Rooms, and badge printers—and set up equipment carts for talent and crew.
- Write, debug, and optimize automation scripts (Python, Bash, Apple Script) with AI assistance; support custom internal applications.
- Identify repetitive manual tasks and develop scripting solutions to improve workflow efficiency.
- Track technical gear through check‑in/check‑out processes and maintain asset records; provide support for the Digital Asset Management system.
- Provide emergency on‑set troubleshooting for tethering issues (Capture One/Capture‑One) when immediate resolution is needed to keep shoots on track.
- Deep mastery of macOS, including file structures and troubleshooting utilities.
- Functional skill in Python, Bash, or Apple Script, and the ability to use AI to generate and refine code.
- Knowledge of Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, and server connectivity troubleshooting in a corporate environment.
- Familiarity with monitor calibration hardware/software such as Color Navigator or i1
Profiler. - Strong problem‑solving under high‑pressure conditions; a calm, customer‑service mindset when working with Art Directors, Photographers, and other teams.
- Curiosity for emerging technology and an eagerness to learn the complete file flow from capture to server.
- Jamf administration—certification or experience building policies beyond deployment.
- Experience with Capture One and tethered photography workflows.
- Experience with enterprise‑level Digital Asset Management systems.
