Where We WorkUdemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye.
This is an in‑office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.
As a Senior Director of Product Design for our Core Product UX, you will lead one of Udemy’s most strategically important design domains—defining the experience for millions of users worldwide. Reporting to the VP of Design & Research, you will shape the end‑to‑end experiences across web and mobile platforms, ensuring Udemy continues to set the standard for intuitive, elegant, and effective upskilling experiences.
You will work cross‑functionally with your peers in Product and Engineering to build high performing, coherent and beautiful product experiences.
- Set the vision for the core product UX at Udemy, ensuring our platform is not only functional but inspiring, competitive, and visually iconic.
- Elevate design across multiple global teams (US and Europe), acting as a player‑coach who guides by example while mentoring senior talent.
- Influence at the highest levels, presenting confidently to C‑level stakeholders and driving alignment between design, product, and business strategy.
- Lead innovation in AI‑powered UX, prototyping the future of personalized learning, content creation, and global classroom experiences.
- Build culture, creating an environment where designers do the best work of their careers—grounded in collaboration, inclusion, and shared purpose.
- Scale impact, operationalizing design processes and systems that enable consistent, high‑quality outcomes across products, regions, and modalities.
- 10+ years of product design leadership and leading leaders, including 5+ years leading and mentoring multi‑disciplinary design teams at scale and 3+ years in an executive function overseeing budgets, career development, organizational change management and culture building.
- A deep understanding of creator economy incentives and drivers.
- A portfolio that demonstrates not only excellent design execution but also your ability to drive vision, influence outcomes, and scale impact across complex ecosystems.
- Deep experience designing for web and mobile platforms; fluency in video‑based, subscription, or creator‑driven products is a strong plus.
- Comfort and confidence engaging with executive stakeholders; proven ability to align design strategy with business goals and outcomes.
- Expertise in design systems, UX strategy, and operational excellence to drive efficiency and consistency, including deep collaboration with Marketing and Product Marketing.
- Deep understanding, fluency and hands‑on experience in emerging AI design, prototyping and frontend coding tools and experience shaping AI‑powered product features.
- A track record of building strong, collaborative team cultures across geographies.
- Vibrant connections across the design industry, with the ability to represent Udemy externally and ensure our design org is connected, visible, and influential in the broader community.
