As an Applied Scientist on our team, you will focus on building state‑of‑the‑art ML models for biology. Our team rewards curiosity while maintaining a laser‑focus in bringing products to market. Key job responsibilities

As an Applied Scientist, you will have access to large datasets with billions of images and video to build large-scale machine learning systems. Additionally, you will analyze and model terabytes of text, images, and other types of data to solve real-world problems and translate business and functional requirements into quick prototypes or proofs of concept.

We are looking for smart scientists capable of using a variety of domain expertise combined with machine learning and statistical techniques to invent, design, evangelize, and implement state‑of‑the‑art solutions for never‑before‑solved problems.

• 3+ years of building models for business application experience
• PhD, or Master’s degree and 4+ years of computer science, electrical engineering, machine learning or related field experience
• Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high‑performance computing

• Experience using Unix/Linux
• Experience in professional software development
• Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR) or journals
• Experience in deep learning models for life sciences; knowledge of protein biology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
