Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place.
Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The RoleThe Square Organic Discovery team is a hyper-effective, integrated growth engine. As the Global Head of Organic Discovery, you will lead the strategic vision of our organic search portfolio, inclusive of AEO/GEO, to engage sellers through acquisition. You will be responsible for driving search visibility, quality traffic and ultimately revenue growth as we navigate the changing nature of consumer behavior, market landscape and the broadening definition of ’search’.
This role requires team leadership, strong XFN partnership and deep expertise, with a strong emphasis on performance, experimentation, and continuous optimization.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead organic discovery into its next chapter. You will diversify our organic channel mix, testing into new channels and tactics to capture demand beyond traditional Google search. You will drive strategy, establish clear priorities, bring that vision to life, and achieve measurable outcomes. Your leadership will lead to effective acquisition, thereby enhancing seller success and benefiting both our sellers and Square.
YouWill
- Own global organic discovery strategy inclusive of and beyond traditional search to drive sustainable revenue growth; channels include Google, You Tube, Tik Tok, Amazon, and Reddit
- Drive measurable search visibility/ranking and traffic through strategies and tactics that align Square content topics and solutions with seller expectations and behaviors
- Ensure foundational excellence across our site with a deep focus on technical integrity and semantic relevance, creating a web experience that's optimized for discoverability and long-term growth
- Proactively manage and optimize strategic roadmap, maximizing impact, strengthening operations and allocating resources effectively
- Ensure channel orchestration for a cohesive integrated experience in partnership with Paid
- Lead, mentor and inspire a team of experts, as well as agencies and partners with clarity, urgency and high expectations
- Partner with Marketing Analytics and Data Science to improve and evolve measurement frameworks for organic discovery, measuring visibility, engagement, and conversion across funnel stages, including emerging AI-driven search experiences
- Partner with global and regional leads to tailor approaches by market and audience, bringing Square's value proposition effectively to our sellers
- Build and nurture partnerships with stakeholders, business leaders and cross-functional teams, organic social, paid, content, web, retail, operations, data science and analytics
- 10+ years of experience in SEO and organic growth, with deep expertise across technical SEO, content strategy, and the evolving search landscape (AEO, GEO, AI-driven, and multimodal search)
