Technical Accounting Lead

Our co-founders are Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs.

Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.

What you’ll doOwn technical accounting

Lead the documentation of all technical accounting policies (cost of revenue, allocations, leases, revenue, stock-based compensation, fixed assets, etc.)Serve as an advisor on strategic investments, acquisitions, and partnerships

Review monthly financials for adherence to accounting policies

Lead audit and IPO readiness efforts

Coordinate with external audit firm on quarterly and annual audit requirements

Lead the review of how the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement are presented

Ensure compliance with current financial statement disclosure requirements

Drive Finance Transformation initiatives to leverage AI and tooling at scale

Enhance or upgrade our tech stack to enable the latest in AI technology

Challenge our processes and develop an AI-first approach

What you'll bringCPA license2-5+ years at a Big Four firm, preferably servicing public companies2-5+ years in-house at a high-growth enterprise software company

Proficient in US GAAPAbility to identify areas for improvement and build solutions using AIDesire to drive operational efficiency to scale the accounting functionA structured, self-directed, detail-oriented builder and problem solver who can design a process where none exists, run it, and improve it over time without being managed toward it.
