American Sign Language Interpreter (San Jose, CA)

Interlingva, Inc. is offering an independent contractor position for an American Sign Language Interpreter located in San Jose, CA and the San Francisco Bay Area. The role provides professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings, with flexible work schedules and ongoing opportunities.

The interpreter will provide accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings. Assignments are available on a regular basis, depending on demand for specific languages and the interpreter’s qualifications.

• Fluency in both ASL and English
• Must be based in San Jose, CA or the San Francisco Bay Area
• Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings
• Strong ability to interpret orally between ASL and English in both directions
• Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience
• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary
• Possession of a valid California license
