Job DescriptionThe San Francisco Police Department is seeking Retired Peace Officers with valid POST certification and Reserve Level-I Peace Officers to join a highly respected police department that serves a diverse community in one of the most beautiful cities in the country as a Special Events Officer. San Francisco Special Event Police Officers perform a wide variety of duties to promote public safety and security in and around the various event centers, city-wide events and other city venues.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Education:
Applicants must be a United States High School Graduate or have passed a G.E.D. or the California High School Proficiency Examination, or have an AA or higher degree from aUnited
States accredited college or university.(Government Code 1031(e) ) - Driver’s License:
Applicants must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate an automobile at the time of application and throughout the selection process. Possession of a valid California Driver License is required prior to the date of hire. - Must have passed a patrol-based Field Training Program with home agency as required by POST
- Must be at least 21years of age for specified peace officers (GC 1031.4)
- Judicial Record:
Applicants must NOT have been:- Convicted of a felony.
- Convicted of an offense involving domestic violence.
- Convicted of any misdemeanor that carries a penalty of prohibiting ownership, possession or control or a firearm; or
- Restricted from employment with the City and County of San Francisco.
- Retired with at least two (2) years’ experience as a Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency and possession of at least a valid Basic Certificate issued by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training;
OR - Currently working or having at least two years’ experience as a Level-I Reserve Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency with a valid California POST (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) Certificate or Basic Course Waiver (BCW).
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must meet and maintain required peace officer employment standards as required by POST.
- Retirees who were medically retired (industrial or non-industrial) should confirm with their retirement plan that accepting employment as an “as-needed” San Francisco Special Events Officer will not jeopardize their pension.
- Must possess the strength and physical ability necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Must possess hearing, speech and mental capabilities sufficient to perform all of the essential functions of the position.
