TheOpportunity
Prime Residential is seeking a Vice President of Construction to lead construction strategy and execution across our multi-state multifamily portfolio. This executive role owns the financial, operational, and strategic performance of all construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and in alignment with Prime’s long‑term business objectives. Reporting to the Senior Director, Portfolio Operations, the VP of Construction partners closely with Executive Leadership and cross‑functional teams to support portfolio growth, capital initiatives, and exceptional resident experiences.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Set and execute the construction strategy across the portfolio, aligning projects with financial and operational goals.
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and performance tracking for all construction activities.
- Oversee project pipelines, timelines, and quality standards across multiple markets.
- Build and lead a high‑performing construction team, fostering accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
- Partner with Asset Management, Property Management, Finance, Legal, and Acquisitions to support capital planning and new investment opportunities.
- Manage vendor, contractor, and consultant relationships; lead negotiations as needed.
- Identify and mitigate construction‑related risks, ensuring compliance with contracts, codes, and regulations.
- Represent Prime Residential with external partners, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction project management, operations, or related fields, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
- Proven track record managing multi‑site construction operations within the multifamily or residential industry.
- Expertise in forecasting, estimating, budgeting, cost control, and project financial management.
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction law, safety regulations, and risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in construction and project management tools such as MS Project, Procore, and the MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
