They will work closely with China-based R&D, hardware, and supply-chain teams, with frequent cross-time-zone communication as market feedback, product decisions, and launch planning move in parallel. They'll also coordinate closely with Ambi's global branding and marketing team - owning the campaign and its execution in the US, while staying aligned with the global brand.
This person owns channel sequencing and prioritization directly - deciding which channels to run when and how to pace a launch based on what the data shows. They also work closely with the CEO, whose story and the raise are currently Ambi's best pre-brand recruiting and awareness asset.
This is also a role with real influence upstream: this person works directly with Engineering and Product, not as a downstream function that receives a roadmap after it's already decided, but as an active stakeholder in shaping what Ambi builds next based on what's converting and what users are asking for.
- Success in the first 90 days looks like: a working beta acquisition funnel (founder-led outreach on X/Reddit, niche subreddits, Betabound, Product Hunt Upcoming, Discord seeding) converting into engaged testers, a Product Hunt / Hacker News launch executed cleanly, and a growth playbook the team can repeat post-launch.
- Growth ownership: Has owned a consumer product launch end-to-end - positioning, waitlist/referral mechanics, first-week retention loops - at a startup (seed to Series B)
- Sequencing & prioritization: Can build and sequence a multi-channel beta-to-launch plan (founder-led outreach, KOL activation, community platforms, Product Hunt/HN) and knows what to run in parallel vs. in order
- Operating without brand pull: Has grown something from zero awareness - comfortable with push-not-pull distribution, not reliant on inbound
- Data fluency: Reads funnel conversion by channel (cold vs. warm traffic, referral multipliers, activation/retention) and reallocates effort based on what's converting, not what's comfortable
- Comfort with ambiguity: Has been a 0-1 hire before; sets their own priorities and builds the playbook rather than waiting for one
- Experience at a consumer AI or hardware-adjacent startup
- Deep fluency in community-led / PLG growth models - closer to the core of this role than paid acquisition
- Awareness of the "trust gap" US buyers have toward China-origin products, and how to counter it (transparency on data/storage, a US-facing voice as primary spokesperson)
- Existing operator network for warm referrals into the first US hires
- Bilingual (English + Mandarin) - relevant given company roots, not required
- Experience with referral/waitlist tooling (Viral Loops, ) and beta listing platforms (Betabound, App Sumo)
