About altb partnersaltb partners is a San Francisco brand and communications firm for early-stage and growth companies. We build positioning, messaging, and the stories that carry them, then put that work in front of the people who matter: customers, investors, press, and the communities forming around new categories.
Our clients span AI security, fintech, research science, global supply chains, and civic nonprofits. The team is small and senior, and everyone works close to the client.
The roleYou will run social and community for two to three altb client accounts e days that means writing a week of posts for a founder. Other days it means working the comments and DMs, spotting a conversation a client should be in, or filming at an event and cutting the video.
This is a role for someone who knows these platforms from the inside, writes well, notices what people care about, and enjoys bringing the right people into the conversation, the kind of introduction that leads to a story, a partnership, or a new relationship. You will report to our Social Media + Community Lead and collaborate with designers, writers, and brand leads across the team.
You’ll get direct feedback on your work and room to take on more as the team grows.
The role is hybrid. We work out of our San Francisco office and flex to be together as much as we can.
What you’ll do- Write and publish social content on Linked In, X, Meta (Instagram and Facebook), Tik Tok, and You Tube for your client brands, each in its own voice
- Film and edit short video, and turn interviews, launches, research, and events into posts, threads, and newsletter items
- Manage client communities day to day: reply to comments and DMs, moderate, and keep the conversation going
- Listen to what each client’s audience is talking about and spot the conversations worth joining
- Keep up with platform changes, new formats, and trends, and tell us which ones are worth a client’s time
- Build relationships with the founders, operators, journalists, creators, and community leaders who shape each client’s category
- Support events, salon dinners, and launches before, during, and after
- Keep a content calendar across accounts and hit every deadline on it
- Report on what is working, with a clear recommendation attached to every number
- A university degree, ideally in journalism, communications, or a related field
- Up to three years of experience in social media: creating content, managing a community, or both. It doesn’t have to come from a full-time job. Campus, freelance, volunteer, or personal projects count if you can show the work
- You are social native. You know the norms, formats, and humor of each platform, not just how to post on it
- You like the community side of the job: answering people, joining conversations, and knowing when to flag something to the team
- You aren’t afraid to create and write, and you turn out clean, accurate copy quickly in a founder’s voice or a brand’s
- You film and edit your own short video and design your own graphics, and you are comfortable in Cap Cut, Canva, and Adobe Express
- You are curious about startups, technology, and how communities form around ideas
- You like meeting people and following up; you remember names and what people care about
- You stay organized across several deadlines and take editing well
reporting or editing experience; a newsletter, podcast, or community you built yourself; comfort with technical or B2B subjects; working knowledge of Figma or Notion.
