The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers.

Job Description

Under general supervision, the 2322 Nurse Manager (NICU) supervises the delivery and evaluation of nursing care and the care environment. The 2322 Nurse Manager (NICU) performs the following essential job functions:

  • Manages nursing care in a neonatal/pediatrics assigned area, which may either be a clinical, administrative or community setting;
    Assesses patient care needs;
  • Supervises, recruits, selects, assigns, orients, and evaluates professional and ancillary staff;
    Verifies validity of staff licensure;
  • Ensures compliance with body substance precautions and other infection control guidelines;
  • Participates in committees related to aspects of patient care and organizational development/integration;
  • Counsels staff on performance expectations and discrepancies;
  • Determines staff competency and certifies staff for performing clinical procedures;
  • Assesses developmental needs of staff and provides educational opportunities;
  • Identifies, investigates, documents, and addresses problems, unusual occurrences, and complaints;
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates specialized programs and supervises designated staff when assigned to a specific program;
  • Reviews clinical records to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of documentation;
  • Gathers, reviews, analyzes, and organizes technical, medical, operating, and statistical data/reports/records and makes recommendations;
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and clinical services, organizational standards, and utilization measurements in collaboration with various professional staff and in accordance with regulatory requirements; and
  • Organizes, coordinates, directs and evaluates the processes and systems necessary for the delivery of coordinated, multidisciplinary care to the patient population.

The 2322 Nurse Manager (NICU) also performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Required


  • EDUCATION:
    Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and/or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or a closely related field;
    AND

  • EXPERIENCE:
    Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Critical Care Registered Nurse in a general acute care hospital within the last five (5) years;
    AND

  • LICENSE:
    Possession of a valid, including temporary or interim, California Registered Nurse License issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
