Job Description

We are seeking experienced Pediatric Operating Room Registered Nurses for a travel assignment in San Francisco, CA. This role supports a high-acuity pediatric surgical program and requires strong skills in both scrub and circulate roles, including pediatric ophthalmology procedures.

The RN will work in a Level I academic medical center environment with a wide variety of pediatric surgical specialties.

Responsibilities
  • Scrub and circulate pediatric surgical cases
  • Assist anesthesia during induction and maintain sterile field
  • Prepare and manage surgical instruments, implants, and equipment
  • Perform surgical counts, specimen handling, and documentation
  • Monitor patient safety and respond to intraoperative emergencies
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Float to adult OR or affiliated facilities as required
Required Qualifications
  • Active California RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric OR experience
  • Scrub and circulate experience required
  • Must have ophthalmology OR experience
  • AHA BLS & PALS certifications
  • Previous travel experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • CNOR certification
  • Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery
  • Proficiency in laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures
Unit & Facility Details
  • Pediatric patient population: neonates through adolescents
  • Approximately 30 cases per day
  • 10 operating rooms
  • Specialties include Neuro, Ortho, Cardiac, ENT, Plastics, General Surgery, Urology, Transplant, and more
  • Advanced surgical equipment including robotics, lasers, and navigation systems
