ML Research Engineer - Reinforcement Learning

Our client is seeking an exceptional ML Research Engineer to join their team and push the boundaries of reinforcement learning research.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge problems at the intersection of research and engineering.

What You’ll Do

As an ML Research Engineer, you’ll conduct novel research in reinforcement learning, develop and implement sophisticated RL environments, and contribute to advancing the state of the art in machine learning. You’ll collaborate with world‑class researchers and engineers and translate research breakthroughs into practical applications.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Reinforcement Learning through hands‑on research and development

• 1+ years working in a startup environment (does not have to be as an ML Researcher)

• Strong engineering skills with experience implementing and scaling ML systems

• Deep understanding of RL fundamentals including policy optimization, value‑based methods, and model‑based RL

• Track record of translating research into production systems

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field

• Published research in top‑tier machine learning conferences and journals (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, JMLR, or equivalent)

• Experience with post‑training techniques (RLHF, Constitutional AI, etc.)

• Prior experience at a frontier AI lab

• Academic background from a top‑tier research institution
