Mercor is hiring on behalf of a leading AI‑enabled research lab seeking a Sell‑Side Equity Research Analyst / Associate to produce data‑backed insights, forecasts, and coverage reports for institutional investors. The role blends traditional equity research with exposure to automation and AI‑driven analytics, supporting the delivery of high‑quality research across key market sectors.
Responsibilities- Lead sector coverage by monitoring companies, market trends, and industry developments.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models and forecasts.
- Prepare and publish research notes, coverage reports, and earnings summaries for institutional clients.
- Collaborate with data teams to integrate automation, AI tools, and quantitative signals into research workflows.
- Present findings and insights to senior analysts, clients, and internal teams.
- 2+ years of experience in sell‑side equity research, covering a specific sector (e.g., tech, industrials, healthcare, etc.).
- Proficiency in Excel modeling, valuation, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong writing, presentation, and client communication skills.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, Fact Set, and exposure to data visualization or automation tools.
- Quantitative mindset — able to blend traditional analysis with structured data insights.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, or STEM preferred; CFA or progress toward it a plus.
- Gain exposure to AI‑enhanced research workflows, working alongside engineers, data scientists, and sector experts.
- Build deep sector expertise while experimenting with new tools for forecasting and modeling automation.

About the RoleThe PDRA will conduct research within the Wellcome‑funded Speculative Fertilities:
Finance, Pharma, and the Future of Reproduction project. Using qualitative methods, the project consists of three work streams analysing case studies that may transform the future of reproduction, including automated IVF, in‑vitro gametogenesis (IVG) and mifepristone (abortion pill) as contraception. The advertised position focuses on the latter work stream, exploring the socio‑cultural and political‑economic dimensions of clinical trials involving mifepristone as a weekly contraceptive.
This is a full‑time role, offered a fixed‑term 36‑month contract.
Essential Criteria- Fluency in English
- Strong skills in social science research methods, including qualitative methods (interviews, ethnographic methods, documentary and policy analysis).
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience publishing for academic, public and stakeholder audiences.
- Incipient or growing track record of academic writing (monographs, reports, working papers, journal publications).
- Ability to develop, conduct and publish independent research studies within the broader project; manage research data; organisational and time‑management skills.
- Academic expertise in reproductive politics and/or pharmaceutical innovation and regulation.
- Demonstrated interest and expertise in abortion and contraception research.
- Demonstrated interest and expertise in the regulation and implementation of pharmaceutical research.
- Experience in relevant quantitative and digital methods.
- Experience working across reproductive or pharmaceutical sectors (policy, R&D, public health, or with people with lived experience).
- Understanding of data confidentiality and data security.
