Job DescriptionThe Inflammation Biology group at Gilead Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our collaborative and interdisciplinary research team. The successful candidate will support novel target identification and drug development to address clinical unmet need in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. As a member of cross‑functional teams, the candidate will use state‑of‑the‑art technologies and innovative methodologies to develop new therapeutics focused on restoring immune tolerance, including targeted cytokines and tissue‑resident immune cell function.
The role offers opportunities for career growth in a fast‑paced and resource‑rich environment.
- Support innovative cellular assay development to identify novel approaches to modulate high‑value targets for immunology and inflammation, incorporating primary immune cells as appropriate.
- Independently design, conduct, and analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to support target validation and therapeutic hypotheses.
- Proactively evaluate new technologies, develop new assays, and generate scientific hypotheses to enhance our understanding of disease pathogenesis.
- Work cross‑functionally with colleagues in inflammation biology, protein therapeutics, structural and medicinal chemistry, and bioinformatic teams.
- Present findings and recommendations to project teams and senior staff, prepare research reports and peer‑reviewed manuscripts, and contribute to the preparation of IND and patent filings.

- Ph.D. in immunology, molecular or cell biology, biochemistry, or related field; with 2+ years postdoctoral experience; OR Masters degree with 8‑10 years industry experience.
- Strong background in cellular biology and/or immunology, and/or cell signaling. Experience with methods to modulate gene expression (e.g., CRISPR, lentiviral transduction), and/or knowledge of preclinical models of inflammation and immune function would be preferred. Familiarity with T‑cell biology, particularly regulatory T cells, would be ideal.
- Demonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by first‑author publications in top‑tier journals.
