Personal Risk Specialist – Premier at USI Insurance

The Person al Risk Specialist is an outside sales position focused on serving the unique insurance needs of affluent/high‑net‑worth clients. In addition to cross‑selling, the primary focus of this role is business development, establishing additional client sources.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments and visit high‑net‑worth individuals to understand their lifestyle, concerns, and unique insurance needs, providing consultative advice tailored to personal risk‑management solutions.
  • Achieve annual new‑business sales goals based on the target market.
  • Develop prospect centers of influence and lead sources for clients that fall in the target group for USI One Advantage.
  • Penetrate assigned prospect targets using the Engagement Platform process with prospective business partners such as lawyers, financial services professionals, realtors, and other professionals serving the affluent segment.
  • Identify and overcome sales obstacles on a prospect‑specific basis.
  • Develop and deploy sales and marketing strategies and periodic communications to optimize USI's marketplace position.
  • Meet with external centers of influence to prospect, engage, and serve as a value‑added service to the center’s clients.
  • Build strong working relationships and earn confidence of Commercial Lines and Employee Benefits production staff.
  • Serve as a trusted partner and advisor to clients and prospects.
  • Support cross‑selling strategies for existing and new clients.
  • Participate in and, as needed, lead meetings with existing and prospective clients.
  • Manage client and prospect data, maintaining prospect lists and activity records in USI CRM and sales tracking programs.
  • Prepare proposals for Personal Risk Management clients, research, and assist in writing responses and present individualized insurance programs to prospects.
  • Maintain schedule flexibility, including some evening hours.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Minimum of 3 years in high‑net‑worth or personal insurance sales or service.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Personal lines insurance industry experience.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more of the time and meet with clients.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Highly motivated, goal‑oriented, and organized, driven to achieve sales goals.
  • Customer‑service skills applicable to the sales process.
  • Strong knowledge of carriers and the personal insurance marketplace.
  • Commitment to the mutual objectives of the Personal Insurance Practice and Regional Office.
  • College degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active property‑casualty license required (or must be obtained within 60 days of hire).
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
