Job Summary

Position is flexible with the expectation to be onsite 3 days a week at Mission Bay location.

The incumbent will help manage, plan, and administer the operations of one or more multi-site clinical trial. They will work under Dr. Boxer in a unique position with plenty of room for growth into a high-level administrative and operational position. It requires making decisions using sound judgement, discretion, and professionalism, while working closely and collaboratively with other members of the Boxer Lab and external collaborators.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess exceptional organizational skills, and have a passion for contributing to impactful medical research.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification  positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $78,900 - $120,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is an internationally renowned clinical research center with over 300 full time employees with offices and clinical research space located in the Sandler Neurosciences Building and multiple other buildings on the UCSF Mission Bay Campus. The MAC provides clinical care for patients suffering from neurodegenerative disease processes; from this clinical population, external referrals, and direct recruitment efforts we enroll patients into more than 50 clinical research protocols and/or treatment trials.

The AD & FTD Clinical Trials Program has a mission to find effective, scientifically-based treatments that lead to a cure for neurodegenerative brain diseases. This is accomplished through clinical trials that emphasize patient and family benefits and public health impact, and observational studies that deepen our understanding of the biological mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and minimum three years of experience or equivalent experience / training.
  • Previous scientific research experience in clinical or laboratory setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Experience with surveys and presentations including related software (e.g., Smartsheet, Qualtrics, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other cross-functional teams and establish cooperative working relationships with co-workers & physicians.
  • The ability to work autonomously and conduct oneself in a highly professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
  • Previous experience with human clinical trials.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as risk management planning, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, including writing research protocols, manuscripts, preparing engaging and informative PowerPoint presentations.
  • Knowledge of ICH guidelines, US FDA, and European clinical trial requirements and regulations.
