Mat Pel Apprentice Carpenters work under the supervision of a Journeyman Carpenter, assisting them in their duties while training and gaining a better understanding of the trade.

• Assist Journeyman Carpenters with construction and remodeling projects.
• Help build structures from wood and other materials.
• Learn and practice essential carpentry skills on the job.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter.
• Attend courses on carpentry to attain the necessary technical skills as outlined in the Field Performance Skills Matrix.

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Good math skills & mechanically minded.
• Familiarity with common power and hand tools.
• Experience in construction, preferably high end residential.
• Open to instruction, willingness to learn.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, great attitude.

• Physical strength and stamina, ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.
• Manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, ability to handle, feel, lift, operate, and move objects, tools, or controls.
• Strong reading and math skills.
• Excellent vision and depth perception.
• Ability to work in a construction environment.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, dig, go up and down stairs and ladders, crouch, crawl, and lay down.
• Exposure to heat and/or cold, and inclement weather.
• Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
