Division Description

Felton Children, Youth, Family, and Transitional Age Youth division offers comprehensive, early care and education, family support, and mental health services across San Francisco to over 400 families. Via a two-generation approach, Felton’s Family Support services promote strong families and optimal development for their children by focusing on the Strengthening Families Framework. The primary function of the family supports The Five Protective Factors;

parental resilience, increase social connections, increase knowledge of parenting and child development, providing concrete support in times of need, and supporting social‑emotional competence in young children. This approach serves as a one‑stop integrated service continuum, supporting families to address their needs largely under one roof, with a core group of staff with whom they can build trusting, supportive relationships.

Family Support Services Description

The primary function of the FRCs is to support children and families using The Five Protective Factors; parental resilience, increase social connections, increase knowledge of parenting and child development, providing concrete support in times of need, and supporting social‑emotional competence in young children.

This approach serves as a one‑stop integrated service continuum, supporting families to address their needs largely under one roof, with a core group of staff with whom they can build trusting, supportive relationships.

The FRCs at Felton Institute consist of two comprehensive Family Resource Centers (FRC) with a multitude of wraparound services to serve the young parent population citywide and families enrolled in the early care and education programs. Our FRCs are inclusive of all cultural backgrounds and family compositions. Key programming includes:
Intensive care management, support groups that encourage parent leadership and healthy family development, Workshops and classes focused on child and youth development, health and wellness, Family Engagement, Community events, Curriculum‑based parenting workshops (STEP, PIPE, Abriendo Puertas—a Latino‑focused curriculum centered on family strengthening), and parent leadership/ advocacy, mental health support and counseling, family economic success, fatherhood programming, GED preparation, post‑secondary education, support applying to programs such as Cal‑fresh, Food Stamps, and Below Market Rate housing.

Job Description

The Bilingual Case Manager is responsible for working with families enrolled in our Young Family Resource Center (YFRC). The Case Manager provides family advocacy, resource and referral and ensures that his/her assigned clients have a coordinated range of client‑centered services linking them with health care, educational and social services. The Bilingual Case Manager is responsible for completing initial and bi‑annual assessments with clients to include completion of a care plan in addition to seeing clients periodically to address their current needs and checking on progress.
