We are looking for a seasoned front end engineer who is looking for an opportunity that comes with a high degree of ownership and responsibility for the design and development of Tako’s front end systems. You should be comfortable working in a fast‑paced start‑up environment where rapid iteration is the name of the game. This person will be a key member of Tako’s early engineering team and will be able to have a massive impact on our mission to visualize the world’s knowledge.

• Own the design and development of highly scalable and flexible front end systems that will power a variety of Tako user experiences across web and mobile applications
• Be willing to talk directly with customers to develop a deep understanding of their use cases for Tako and design products to solve for them
• Collaborate with product managers and backend/data engineers to think holistically about how we present the world’s knowledge and data to users
• Ensure that Tako’s frontend applications are designed for speed and reliability at scale
• Contribute to engineering velocity by making a front end system that are flexible and can support the addition of a large number of new features and visualizations for presenting knowledge

• 4+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech and product-driven companies
• A desire to build and own a visualization-heavy frontend
• A mastery of JavaScript (Typescript), React/Vue, and other web technologies
• Some familiarity with backend languages and frameworks (we’re using Python & Django)
• Comfort working with relational databases. You’ll be building a frontend that is principally concerned with delivering data visualizations on top of our rapidly growing knowledge graph, so some experience with Postgres/MySQL will be of use.

• Experience with D3.js
• Previous experience in building front end systems in a B2C context
• Some experience with mobile frameworks (iOS, Android)
