About the Job:

Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, with over 90% of users playing games. Our platform facilitates 1.5 billion hours of gaming each month, and we’re focused on making communication around games more fun and accessible. We’re now making it easier for developers to create and distribute the next great game on Discord. We’re seeking a Senior Developer Advocate to support, educate, and inspire our growing community of game developers.

You will engage with the community, provide technical support, speak at events, and advocate for developers’ needs.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Voice of Improvement:
Advocate for continuous improvements to the developer experience on Discord’s platform.

• Support Developers:
Write documentation, create best practices, and develop code samples to help platform developers.

• Collaborate with Teams:
Work with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and other teams to highlight unique apps, improve developer experiences, and grow the app ecosystem.

• Community Engagement:
Host community events, lead technical workshops, deliver talks, and create exciting ways to bring new developers into the Discord ecosystem.

• Expert Resource:
Serve as a key resource for developers by staying up-to-date on platform capabilities and best practices.

• Influence Product

Roadmap:

Gather insights from the community to influence the product team’s roadmap.

What You Should Have:

•

Experience:

5+ years in developer advocacy, engineering, or a related technical field.

• Technical Expertise:
Practical experience building games or tools that support game developers.

• Communication

Skills:

Ability to explain complex technical topics in simple, clear language.

• API Design Knowledge:
Strong understanding of API design principles and development best practices.

• Game Platform Proficiency:

Experience with gaming platforms like Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot.

• Data Analysis:
Ability to collect, analyze, and track data to set and measure goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Experience working in teams across different functions.

• Presentation

Skills:

Comfortable presenting to diverse audiences, both virtual and in-person.

• Passion for Documentation: A drive to create technical documentation that inspires other developers.

Bonus Points:

• Previous experience in a Developer Advocacy role.

• Experience with web gaming technology such as Unity, Phaser, or itch.io.

• Familiarity with web platforms like Type Script and React.

• Experience with Discord’s APIs.

• Proficiency in Mandarin or Korean.

• Salary Range: $196,000 - $220,500 base salary + equity + benefits.

• Salary Determination:
Compensation within this range depends on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
