As a Senior Developer Advocate, you’ll help drive the experience for game developers on Discord’s platform by supporting, educating, and inspiring the growing community. This role involves engaging with developers, speaking at events, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the developer ecosystem.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Voice of the Developer Community:
Represent the voice of game developers on Discord, advocating for continuous improvements to the developer experience.

• Developer Support:
Write documentation, create best practices, and develop code samples to assist developers building on Discord’s platform.

•

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and other teams to highlight apps and use cases, improve the developer ecosystem, and grow the app ecosystem.

• Community Engagement:
Host events, lead technical workshops, and deliver talks to attract new game developers into the Discord ecosystem.

• Expert Resource:
Continuously learn about Discord’s platform, capabilities, and design patterns to support the developer community.

• Influence Product

Roadmap:

Work with other teams to define how to engage with the developer community and use feedback to influence the product roadmap.

What You Should Have:

•

Experience:

5+ years in developer advocacy, engineering, or a related technical field.

• Game Development

Experience:

Practical experience building games or tools for game developers.

• Technical Communication:
Proven ability to explain complex technical topics in simple language.

• API Design Expertise:
Strong understanding of API design principles and development best practices.

• Gaming Platform Proficiency:

Experience with at least one popular gaming platform like Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot.

• Data-Driven:
Ability to collect, analyze, and use data to track performance and set goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Experience working within teams across multiple functions.

• Presentation

Skills:

Comfortable presenting to various audiences, both virtually and in-person.

• Passion for Documentation:
Enthusiasm for delivering technical content that inspires developers.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in a Developer Advocacy role.

• Experience with web gaming technologies like Unity, Phaser, itch.io, etc.

• Familiarity with web platforms, including Type Script and React.

• Experience with Discord’s APIs.

• Proficiency in Mandarin or Korean.

• Base Salary: $196,000 to $220,500 annually, based on experience, plus equity and benefits.
