About the Team
Our team exists to empower Door Dash Mobile engineers. We are the champions of three core pillars:
Quality, Velocity, and Efficiency. Ultimately, our goal is to build the supportive infrastructure that allows our fellow engineers to build, ship, and operate apps at massive scale—with confidence and ease. We believe that a great developer experience leads to a great customer experience.
About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Mobile Developer Experience team. In this role, you’ll not only set the technical vision but also nurture the culture required to build world‑class mobile applications. You will partner with senior engineers and stakeholders across the company to design systems that make our platform faster, more reliable, and more efficient.
Your team creates the frameworks, tools, and standards that power all of Door Dash engineering. You will be a partner to your customers—your fellow engineers—working side‑by‑side to understand their hurdles and solve their immediate challenges. You’ll also look to the future, anticipating needs so we can deliver solutions before they become blockers.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a team through a mix of exciting greenfield initiatives and the refinement of established, successful tools. You must be located in the following locations for this opportunity:
San Francisco, CA;
Sunnyvale, CA;
Seattle, WA;
Los Angeles, CA;
New York, New York.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
• Develop and maintain foundational components to enable Door Dash Engineers to excel at mobile engineering. Champion data‑informed decision‑making and continuous improvement across the team
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to drive long‑term architectural direction and influence company‑wide strategy
• Guide the team through ambiguity, leveraging industry best practices while also knowing when to break the mold
• Communicate with clarity, whether explaining a trade‑off to execs or mapping technical strategy across teams
• Drive alignment across teams and disciplines, leading high‑impact cross‑functional initiatives
• Build, sustain, and grow a diverse team to address the growing needs of the organization
We’re excited about you because you have…
• 7+ years of hands‑on software development, and expert proficiency in either Android development or iOS development
• 3+ years leading engineering teams
• A strong bias for action, pragmatic problem‑solving, and deep technical expertise
• Intellectual curiosity to dive deep into the lowest level of detail and know when it is necessary to do so
• A deep understanding of how to build quality software and know how to balance this with delivering value to your customers.
Compensation
The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
