About the Role

The Person a Security Team is looking for a software engineer to join us. You’ll own security sensitive libraries and components of our production platform. You'll play a pivotal role in fortifying our defenses against evolving threats. Your mission: design, build and maintain security libraries and systems to protect our customers’ accounts and data in our platform. You'll have the opportunity to employ cutting-edge technologies, innovative strategies, and your expertise to thwart potential attacks before they disrupt our operations.

This position is based at our headquarters in San Francisco. We offer relocation assistance for those based outside of San Francisco Bay Area.

What you'll do at Persona

• Own the systems used to encrypt our customers’ data.

• Refine the authentication and authorization components in our product, used by our customers to access their accounts every day.

• Design, build, and maintain flexible and reusable security libraries for other engineering teams at Persona to use.

• Propose, build, and ship new security features in our product.

• Participate in the on-call rotation for the Security Team.

What you'll bring to Persona

• Experience – 5+ years of security software engineering experience at a fast-moving technology company, including experience with building performant, highly interactive web applications.

• Passion for security – You should be excited about keeping your skills and knowledge sharp, and sharing that with your peers and the rest of the company.

• Product-thinker – You build products in a way that maximizes product value while minimizing complexity. You understand and can resolve tensions between product requirements and engineering design for large-scale projects.

• Innovative mindset – You go beyond implementing what is asked and make product suggestions and features that help push our product forward. You are naturally curious and embrace change.

• Proactive thinking – You learn from your mistakes quickly, and know how to unblock yourself when needed. We’re looking for someone that can tell us how to solve our problems, instead of waiting to be told how to solve problems.

• Collaborative spirit – Collaboration isn’t just a buzzword for you, it’s your secret to success. You leverage the diverse perspectives of your teammates and sometimes go out of your way to learn other functions to get the job done.
