Senior Backend Engineer

We’re assisting a well‑funded startup with their search for Senior Backend Engineers. They have created a platform marketplace for sports cards and collectibles. They’re hiring multiple engineers in this capacity and the role will be onsite in their SF office.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs using Node.js, Type Script, and Postgres.
• Leverage AI‑powered coding tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, Tabnine) to improve development speed, code quality, and system reliability.
• Architect and optimize systems for high scalability and performance as the business rapidly expands.
• Implement third‑party integrations and external APIs to enhance the platform’s capabilities.
• Develop and maintain internal tools that support fulfillment operations, internal workflows, and machine learning initiatives.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, data, and frontend teams to ship high‑impact features quickly.
• Ensure backend systems are secure, well‑documented, and thoroughly tested.

• 4 - 12 years of experience as a software engineer working on complex problems in backend engineering.
• Previously architected and added to complex backend systems and APIs – should be a great problem solver and experienced engineer.
• Previous experience building and scaling online marketplace platforms (Airbnb, Seat Geek, etc.).
• Deep understanding of events‑driven architecture, distributed systems, API development, and building internal workflows.
• Strong in Type Script, Node.js, Python.
• Familiar with Postgres and general infrastructure platforms – AWS and/or GCP, Docker, Terraform.
• Extremely good communicator who is able to be upfront and take a high level of ownership.
