Full Stack Developer, Backend Developer
QofAI brings elite consulting and forward-deployed engineering to the middle market — turning artificial intelligence into measurable EBITDA growth across every deal, portfolio, and business. We sit where strategy meets software: working alongside investors and operators, finding where AI actually moves the numbers, andthen building the systems that get it there.
That means the engineering here is unusually tangible. The code you write goes toreal companies solving real problems, and you get to watch it land.
What you’ll doYou’ll ship full-stack product — the interface someone clicks, the services behind it,and the data underneath — with the support of more experienced engineers and steadily growing ownership. You’ll start on well-scoped pieces of larger features and, as yourrange widens, take on more of how those pieces fit together across the stack.
- Build user-facing features across the stack, from UI to backend services to the datathat powers them, with guidance on the ambiguous parts.
- Take a well-scoped slice of a larger feature and own it through to production.
- Pair with senior engineers, learning the patterns and judgment that make full-stackwork hold up — and gradually needing less help to get there.
- Read and improve existing code as readily as you write new code, leaving thecodebase a little better each time.
- Work with teammates close to our customers, so you understand why a feature matters before you build it.
We care more about how you think and build than about any particular stack. We’relooking for engineers with roughly 3+ years (about 3–5) of experience who:
- Have shipped real software across more than one layer of the stack, and want to keep widening into a full-platform builder rather than staying in one silo.
- Write clear, readable code and care about correctness, not just "it works on mymachine."
- Can take a well-defined task and run with it, asking good questions when the pathisn't obvious.
- Are hungry to learn and grow quickly, and take feedback as fuel.
- Communicate plainly — in code, in writing, and with teammates.
- A natural lean toward frontend or backend — that's welcome; you don't have to beequally strong in both yet.
- Some Node and Python — the languages most of our product is built in.
- Eagerness to grow across the cloud stack — AWS, Postgres, Docker.
- Experience building data-heavy or AI-adjacent products.
- A genuine comfort moving across the stack rather than living in one layer.
- A track record of shipping things people actually used.
None of these are required. If you're a strong builder who's hungry to grow into owning more of the stack, we want to hear from you.
