Overview
The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the Aquatics Specialist II in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department. In this role you will provide instruction in swimming, supervise swimmers, and maintain health and safety standards at assigned facilities.
Responsibilities- Teach swim skills to individuals of all ages and abilities.
- Provide lifeguard services and supervise swimmer conduct to maintain safety and health standards.
- Assist in program planning and execution on water-based recreational facilities.
- Collaborate with the Recreation Department to promote accessible, safe, healthy, and culturally-rich water programs.
- Minimum of two (2) summer seasons working as a lifeguard or swim instructor.
- Valid Water Safety Instruction Card, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, and completion of First Aid and CPR training.
- If coaching or teaching a specific water sport, must also possess a valid USA Swimming Level 1 Certification or Specialized Aquatics Certificate.

A background/reference check, including employment history, educational credentials, licenses, criminal history, and Live Scan fingerprinting, will be conducted for candidates under final consideration.
