Position Summary

The Youth Basketball Clinic Coach leads and supports youth sports programs by organizing practices each week. Responsibilities include coaching during clinics, running structured practices, overseeing equipment, and maintaining a safe gym environment. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, along with a commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming space for all participants, families, and staff.

Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Experience coaching or playing sports, preferably in a youth setting.
  • Knowledge of at least one sport, with the ability to learn and support additional sports as needed (e.g., basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, or soccer).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and fellow coaches.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to officiate games and support scorekeeping (training can be provided).
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and safe space for all participants.

Must be available Fridays from 4:15-6:45pm

Key Responsibilities Coaching & Program Leadership
  • Lead and coach youth participants for basketball, creating a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.
  • Deliver high level basketball programming during clinics.
Practice & Game Day Preparation
  • Plan and facilitate structured and engaging practices.
  • Organize drills and activities to develop fundamental skills and teamwork.
  • Ensure all participants, coaches, and families feel welcomed and included.
Equipment & Facility Management
  • Maintain and organize sports equipment, ensuring accessibility and proper storage.
  • Ensure all facilities are prepared for practices and games.
Game Management & Safety
  • Officiate games at the end of the sessions as needed, promoting fair play and sportsmanship.
  • Keep accurate scores and record game statistics as required.
  • Monitor the gym and playing areas to ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role takes place in an active, indoor gym setting, with occasional outdoor activities depending on program needs. Coaches interact regularly with children, parents, and fellow staff in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Physical requirements include standing, walking, running, bending, and reaching for extended periods, as well as lifting and carrying sports equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. The position also requires visual and auditory awareness to ensure safety and effective supervision during practices, games, and events.
