Job Summary

Ramp Agents work outside to guide planes, move baggage and cargo, help with de‑icing during cold weather, and keep operations running smoothly. It is a busy, hands‑on role that relies on teamwork to keep flights on schedule. Whether you’re an aviation professional or just starting, you’ll gain valuable experience and learn new skills while ensuring safe and timely operations.

This is a part‑time position, typically 32 hours over 5 days, with schedules determined by a seniority‑based bidding process. New hires complete 4–6 weeks of training (8‑hour classroom or on‑the‑job training each week). After training, work weeks consist of 6.5‑hour shifts, with potential mandatory overtime.

Work schedules may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Mandatory overtime can be required, but there are also opportunities to trade shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly service and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Work cooperatively to ensure company success.
  • Provide legendary customer service to travelers, cargo, and baggage customers at ramps and terminals.
  • Load, unload, service, guide, and direct company aircraft.
  • Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required.
  • Handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading baggage, cargo, airmail, and air freight according to a predetermined plan.
  • Submit Cargo Bin Loading Slips (CBLS) electronically or manually to an Operations Agent.
  • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, preparing records as needed.
  • Warehouse, weigh, stack, and check air cargo against accompanying forms to identify discrepancies and correct routine errors.
  • Safeguard passengers’ baggage, air cargo, airmail, and COMAT from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction.
  • Use jetway stairs to carry items checked at the gate to the aircraft bin.
  • Review cargo forms for accuracy and correct them as necessary.
  • Perform interior aircraft cabin cleaning by hand, including sweeping upholstery, cleaning windows, galleys, and disposal containers in accordance with paperwork.
  • Clean and service lavatories, operate lavatory carts, and dispose of contents per established procedures.
  • Perform provisioning duties, stocking aircraft cabin interiors for flights, maintaining inventory of supplies.
  • Transport cabin and cleaning equipment between aircraft storage areas.
  • Operate or drive motorized equipment such as belt loaders, air‑start units, lift trucks, push‑back tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts, and de‑icers.
  • Manually push and pull push carts and containers.
  • Work in the vicinity of passenger terminals, hangars, and air freight facilities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • May be exposed to varied weather, jet and machinery noise, fumes, dust for extended periods.
  • Complete forms and paperwork associated with assignments, entering data into the company information system.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities
  • Work well with others as part of a team, especially under stressful situations.
  • Complete the Ramp Agent training program with a minimum 90% average and pass the evaluation period.
  • Read documents, follow instructions, and understand ramp operations procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Identify hazardous situations and handle emergencies as needed.
  • Accomplish quick aircraft turns under tight time constraints.
  • Meet all grooming standards outlined in the Ground Operations Employee Handbook and the Labor Agreement.
  • Be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment; communicate verbally or via radio.

  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
