Senior Staff Accountant

Vaco is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant

Location:

Remote within Florida only

Compensation: $80-$95/annually

Schedule:

Mon-Fri 8-5

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing finance and accounting team. This position will work closely with senior finance leadership and take ownership of key day-to-day accounting activities across a fast-paced e-commerce and retail business.

The ideal candidate has experience within CPG, consumer products, e-commerce, retail, or another high-transaction-volume environment and understands the accounting complexities associated with inventory, multiple sales channels, payment processors, and wholesale customers.

• Manage daily and monthly accounting activities across Amazon, Shopify, retail, wholesale, and other sales channels.
• Perform inventory and COGS accounting
  , including inventory reconciliations and related journal entries.
• Reconcile Amazon, Shopify, payment processors, bank accounts, and credit cards.
• Manage accounts payable
  , including vendor invoices, payment tracking, and vendor reconciliations.
• Support and execute the month-end close process
  .
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense schedules.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate accounting records across high transaction volumes and multiple data sources.
• Support sales tax reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Assist with retail and wholesale accounting, including deductions, chargebacks, allowances, and related reconciliations.
• Help improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial workflows as the organization continues to grow.
• Partner with finance leadership on financial reporting, audits, and other accounting and finance initiatives.

• 3-5+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with in CPG, consumer products, e-commerce, retail, or an inventory-based business strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and COGS
  .
• Experience with Amazon and Shopify accounting/reconciliations preferred.
• Experience managing accounts payable and vendor relationships.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Familiarity with sales tax accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Comfortable working with large transaction volumes and multiple data sources.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a fast-paced, collaborative finance team.

• Experience working with a $50M-$300M+ consumer brand
  .
• Retail and/or wholesale accounting experience.
• Familiarity with retailer deductions, chargebacks, allowances, and EDI.
• Experience supporting Amazon, Shopify, and omnichannel businesses
  .
• Experience working within a rapidly growing or scaling organization.

• Accurate and timely reconciliations across major accounts and sales channels.
• Efficient month-end closes with minimal outstanding accounting issues.
• Reliable inventory and COGS reporting.
• Strong AP and vendor accounting processes.
• Accurate, organized, and audit-ready accounting records.
• Improved accounting processes and workflows that support continued business growth.
