JOB DESCRIPTION
Support the PQR estimating process by coordinating the upfront sourcing and administrative work required for new customer quotes. This role gathers supplier pricing, organizes quote information, and prepares accurate cost data so estimators can complete timely and competitive proposals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Review new requests for quotation (RFQs), drawings, bills of material, specifications, and related documentation for completeness.
- Identify purchased materials, components, outside processes, and services that require supplier pricing.
- Prepare and send requests for quotation to approved and prospective suppliers.
- Follow up with suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other required commercial information.
- Compare supplier quotations and organize sourcing data for review by the estimating team.
- Enter and maintain material, supplier, and cost information in estimating systems, spreadsheets, and quote files.
- Track quote due dates and communicate missing information, supplier delays, or cost concerns to the appropriate team members.
- Coordinate with Estimating, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and Operations to clarify requirements and support accurate quotations.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper records for active and completed quotes.
- Assist with additional estimating and PQR administrative duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent job experience required.
- Associate degree or coursework in business, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in estimating, purchasing, sourcing, quoting, manufacturing administration, or a related role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize multiple quotes and priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard business software.
- Ability to read and interpret bills of material, specifications, and technical drawings; manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with suppliers and internal departments.
- Ability to compare pricing, lead times, and supplier terms accurately.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and follow established estimating procedures.
