Clinical Educator - Vocational Nursing Program | Assistant Professor | Full-Time Nursing Faculty Position

Join our distinguished nursing education team as a Clinical Educator for our Vocational Nursing (VN) Program. Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing Education, the Clinical Educator serves as a vital bridge between classroom theory and real-world patient care. You will guide vocational nursing students through hands‑on clinical experiences, ensuring they develop the competencies, critical‑thinking skills, and professional behaviors required to excel as Licensed Vocational Nurses in acute care, long‑term care, and community healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical nursing instruction in skills laboratories and healthcare facilities, emphasizing patient safety, evidence‑based practice, and professional standards
  • Teach essential clinical skills including patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, vital signs monitoring, and accurate medical documentation
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies, simulation scenarios, and clinical evaluations aligned with vocational nursing program objectives
  • Provide constructive, timely feedback to students to enhance clinical competency, critical thinking, and professional development
  • Ensure all clinical experiences comply with Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) standards and regulations
  • Establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with clinical site partners including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and community health agencies
  • Coordinate clinical orientation processes for students entering healthcare facilities
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Stay current with nursing education best practices, healthcare trends, and advances in vocational nursing practice
  • Mentor and support students in achieving their academic and professional goals
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to ensure program consistency and excellence
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program OR Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in any field from an accredited institution
  • Active, unencumbered California Registered Nurse (RN) license OR California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing
  • For RN applicants:
    Minimum of three (3) years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience within the past five years
  • For LVN applicants with Bachelor's degree:
    Minimum of three (3) years of recent acute care bedside experience
  • For LVN applicants with Associate's degree:
    Minimum of six (6) years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in direct patient care delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in team‑oriented educational environments
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BVNPT standards, regulations, and vocational nursing education requirements
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), learning management systems, and educational technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in Nursing Education
  • Previous teaching or clinical instruction experience in nursing education
  • Certification in specialty nursing areas (Med‑Surg, Critical Care, Emergency, etc.)
  • Experience with simulation‑based learning and competency assessment
