Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programmers develop, implement, and validate CMM inspection programs and work holding. They ensure all required parameters are captured for internal and external reporting, and mentor other CMM programmers as needed.

• Prepare CMM inspection plans based on part geometry, tolerances, GD&T, and functional requirements for optimum performance and accuracy.
• Create and validate CMM programs for all reporting requirements; run the CMM to assure accuracy and repeatability.
• Test new technologies to reduce inspection and programming times, and evaluate new CMM hardware and software.
• Schedule programming workload based on due dates or escalation priorities.
• Reprogram existing programs to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Design fixtures to aid in running parts on the CMM, if required.
• Program in‑process dimensional checks, including CMM inspection set‑up and operation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality personnel on technical issues.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure information and data transfer meet customer needs and organizational objectives.
• Work with engineering and manufacturing engineering to optimize measurements of critical features and tightly tolerance machined parts.

• 5 years’ experience in a quality control environment with machined and metal fabrication components in all phases of inspection.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Minimum 3 years’ CMM operation experience, including all machine functions and optional operating conditions.
• Knowledge of common software used for CMM programming, including Solid Works and Zeiss Calypso.
• Ability to perform arithmetic problems.
• Implement best metrology practices in compliance with ASME Y14.5 and internal Vander‑Bend manufacturing standards.
• Drive productivity by consistently using Zeiss hardware and software (e.g., quick‑change tooling, fixturing, offline programming).
• Express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communication.
• Detail oriented, self‑motivated, and enthusiastic.
• Continuously search for ways to improve current processes.
• Balance multiple projects, utilizing various skill sets in a dynamic environment.
• Work independently, and contribute strongly in small and large groups.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading (ASME GD&T Y14.5).

Tasks may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Most of the work involves sitting.
