Overview

TEKsystems is hiring an experienced AV Field Engineer / Service Technician to support a top‑tier AV integration company with a national presence. This role is ideal for a network‑savvy AV engineer who wants to grow into programming and advanced system configuration. You’ll provide on‑site service and support for enterprise‑grade audiovisual systems at corporate client locations, troubleshooting and maintaining complex AV technologies in executive boardrooms, conference centers, and other enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair AV systems and components at client sites.
• Service and maintain:
• Custom Control Systems – Crestron DM/NVX, AMX
• Audio DSP Platforms – Biamp, QSC, Dante Audio
• Complex AV Systems – Executive boardrooms, conference centers
• Video Teleconferencing Systems
• AV‑over‑IP Networks – LAN/WAN/internet for AV data
• Projection Displays, Video Walls, Digital Signage
• Audio Systems – Amplifiers, speakers, microphones
• RF Systems (analog and digital – to a lesser degree)
• Conduct preventive maintenance testing and site surveys for service agreements.
• Write concise service reports and system site surveys.
• Manage multiple service projects and mentor junior/intermediate technicians.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Download, modify, and upload programming using Crestron Toolbox for control systems and Biamp and QSC platforms for audio DSPs.
• Strong understanding of signal flow, AV networking fundamentals, and system integration.
• Know how to troubleshoot AV systems both on the software side and networking side (IP addressing, VLANs, Dante audio networking, control system connectivity).

• Clear communication with non‑technical stakeholders and executives.
• Manage client expectations and maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and adaptability in dynamic environments.
• Customer service orientation – building trust and confidence with end users.

Travel Requirements

• Work involves travel within the local market (Silicon Valley area) to support client sites.
• Daily travel between locations; return home each night.
• A personal vehicle is required; travel‑related expenses will be covered.

Education & Experience

• Two‑year diploma from a technical college or equivalent experience.
• CTS certification highly preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of field service experience in AV systems.
• Ideal candidate: a network‑savvy AV engineer eager to grow into programming and advanced system configuration.

Job Type & Location

This is a contract position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $57.00/hr.
