About the job Senior Geotechnical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in San Jose, California. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, providing expertise on a variety of projects including infrastructure, commercial, residential, and environmental developments. The role involves leading geotechnical investigations, managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with clients to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and oversee geotechnical engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight on complex geotechnical designs and solutions.
- Geotechnical Investigations:
- Plan, execute, and interpret geotechnical field investigations.
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to develop geotechnical recommendations.
- Technical Expertise:
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and engineering calculations.
- Develop foundation designs, earth retention systems, slope stability analyses, and ground improvement methods.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Client Interaction:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and project success.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and environmental engineers.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience with a focus on design and project management.
- Experience working in the San Jose area or similar geotechnical environments is highly desirable.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
California PE or ability to obtain it within 6 months preferred. - Geotechnical Engineer (GE) certification is a strong plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
- Technical
Skills:- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Geo Studio, PLAXIS, LPILE, gINT).
- Strong understanding of California-specific building codes and geotechnical standards.
- Other
Skills:- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
