We are looking for a Principal Engineer – CFD Lead to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to Sr. Director, Development Engineering.
Location:
This position will be fully onsite based in San Jose, CA.
- Lead CFD effort in San Jose for design and development of Bloom products.
- Interface efficiently with various engineering design teams throughout the product cycle.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams for design selection, performance criteria, and reliability.
- Conduct and initiate CFD studies for complex components.
- Provide regular guidance to junior team members, including modeling approaches, model development, accuracy of predictions, and priorities as needed.
- Expand CFD capabilities with new model developments and improvements.
- Ensure timely deliverables of accurate CFD predictions for inputs to design and performance optimizations.
- Participate in test plans for model validation and characterization.
- Provide guidance on flow/thermal tests, both at component and system level.
- Work with marketing and commercial teams on feasibility studies as needed.
- MS or PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering.
- Strong fundamentals in Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and CFD.
- 8+ years of industry experience utilizing CFD in product development.
- Proven track record of managing a team.
- Highly skilled in ANSYS Fluent, including preprocessing.
- Experience in high temperature radiation modeling is a plus.
- Exposure to data modeling is a plus.
- Experience in thermal management/data center cooling is a plus.
- Ability to translate complex flow/thermal real‑life problems to CFD.
- Creative use of CFD for quick and accurate predictions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner.
- Self‑starter, quick learner, able to work with minimal guidance.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
