Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all‑electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We design, manufacture, and operate an all‑electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
What You’ll Do- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for System, Software, Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) and Cybersecurity Design Assurance processes for Archer internal development and suppliers.
- Review and approve Software/AEH lifecycle data for internal development and suppliers as company DER, if delegated.
- Execute System Design Assurance Reviews for internal system development in accordance with ARP
4754A/ARP
4761 and support Certification Authority reviews. - Execute Supplier Oversight and Design Assurance Company Reviews for Systems, Software, and AEH developments, ensuring compliance with ARP
4754A/ARP
4761, DO‑178C, DO‑254, and other certification regulations. - Support approval of Cybersecurity processes with Certification Authorities for Archer products.
- Support generation and independent reviews of Archer System, Software/AEH and Cybersecurity development and verification processes as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Archer’s System, Software and AEH processes, focusing on compliance with ARP
4754A/ARP
4761, DO‑254, DO‑178C and supplements. - Interface with FAA DERs and Certification Authorities for coordination, execution and follow‑up of compliance reviews.
- Maintain and control issues identified in all design assurance activities until resolution.
- 15+ years of experience in System and Software/AEH Design Assurance activities for aerospace standards.
- At least a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Experience with full lifecycle safety‑critical systems, software/AEH complying with design assurance standards such as ARP
4754A/B, ARP
4761, DO‑254 and DO‑178C with supplements. - Experience with multiple systems and software/AEH environments and tools.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in fast‑paced, demanding work environments.
- Experience with agile/lean methodologies.
- Experience with Tool Qualification following DO‑330.
- Experience with Model Based Development and Verification following DO‑331.
- Experience with DO‑326/DO‑356 and DO‑355.
- Experience with System and Software/AEH developments for an aircraft OEM.
- Experience with FAA Certification Compliance Reviews and regulations such as: [list omitted for brevity].
- Familiarity with Archer CM Tools, e.g., Polarion, Collaborator, Git/Bitbucket, Team City, Jira and Teamcenter.
The targeted base pay range for this position is $230,000–$290,000, with the final offer determined by factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
