Plumbing Engineer

About the role
We are looking for a Plumbing Engineer / Designer who thinks like a designer first and an estimator second, to support our growing design-build portfolio. This role is heavily involved in preconstruction and design-assist, helping shape system strategies, budgets, and deliverables for complex projects.

You will own plumbing system design efforts while also supporting conceptual and detailed estimating.

The right candidate is comfortable moving between layouts and risers one moment and quantity takeoffs and ROM budgets the next, always with an eye on constructability, cost, and coordination.

What you'll do
-Lead plumbing system design efforts for design-assist and design-build projects, including layouts, risers, details, and system narratives.
-Ensure designs comply with applicable plumbing codes and reflect real-world constructability and coordination with other trades.
-Produce design-assist and design-build documents that support preconstruction, permitting, and handoff to project teams.
-Support estimating using industry software: perform quantity takeoffs, assist with scope development, and contribute to conceptual/ROM and design-build budgets.
-Participate in value engineering discussions, clearly explaining how design decisions affect cost, labor, schedule, and constructability.
-Collaborate closely with preconstruction and project leadership during early project phases as a key contributor to our design-build strategy and growth.

What you'll bring
-Plumbing Engineer / Designer by trade, with strong experience in building plumbing system design, codes, and constructability.
-Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; BIM experience is a plus but not required.
-Demonstrated experience producing design-assist and design-build documents for commercial or industrial projects.
-Experience supporting estimating teams with takeoffs, scope development, and budget input in a design-build context.
-Strong understanding of value engineering and how plumbing design choices impact project cost and buildability.
-Prior experience in a design-build environment (ideally where most work is design-build) is critical.
