Job Description

Phlebotomist II Float – San Jose, CA. Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotational weekends. Must have a state phlebotomy license; NHA licenses are not accepted in CA, WA, NV. Pay range: $26.35 - $30.66 per hour. A robust total rewards package is offered.

• Assigned a territory to cover phlebotomy duties within a Patient Service Center, doctor’s office, or as business needs dictate.
• Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare those specimens for lab testing.
• Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
• Enter billing information and collect payment when required.
• Coach, mentor, instruct, and act as a resource advisor for new employees; serve as point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
• Travel to additional doctor’s office or Patient Service Center sites when needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

• Three years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
