Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Network and Traffic - USDS

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate and optimize Tik Tok network, including backbone, public cloud and Edge/CDN.
• Design, manage, operate and contribute to the development of Layer7 Load Balancer, CDN origin and DNS.
• Troubleshoot network and traffic issues in partnership with Data Center Partners.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including compute, storage, database and application teams to evolve the Tik Tok network.
• Work with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, testing and verification.
• Participate in the global on-call rotation to support production traffic and networking issues.

Minimum qualifications

• Good understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, RSVP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS technologies.
• Good understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools, such as SNMP, Sflow/netflow, Telemetry.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
  Load Balancers, DNS, CDN origin, Datacenter networking.
• Familiar with data center network architecture, such as CLOS.
• Self-motivated, good communication, written skills and team player.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field, or experience of three or more years in related field.

Preferred qualifications

• Significant experience configuring and optimizing Nginx.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols and implementation in hyper-scale data center networks.
• In-depth knowledge of public cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud, OCI, etc.).
• Good understanding of IPv6 and IPv4-IPv6 co-existence technologies.
• Programming/scripting in Python, Go or other languages.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $187,040 - $359,720 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is part of the Total Package; additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and stock units may apply. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, parental leave, disability and life insurance, wellbeing benefits, and paid holidays, sick days, and personal time.
