Job Description SummaryAs a Principal Experience Designer for Venmo, you will shape end‑to‑end experiences for millions of users. You will lead on user‑centered design, execute flawlessly, and influence stakeholders to champion the design vision. Your work will drive strategy across discovery to post‑purchase, deliver sophisticated experiences, and influence cross‑functional partners.
Essential Responsibilities- Establish overall business or technical strategy for user experience initiatives.
- Negotiate with and influence senior executives to support design direction.
- Identify and resolve unique situations of substantial significance in UX design.
- Allocate resources responsibly and apply creativity to enhance user and customer experiences across digital and physical products.
- Lead the development of user‑experience strategies that resonate with target audiences.
- Support and mentor less‑experienced roles, providing examples of innovation, excellence, and day‑to‑day learning.
- 10+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Design leadership—drive best practices in process and methodology and deliver against business and customer needs.
- Guide UX efforts across teams, including strategy, planning, and removing blockers for cross‑functional partners.
- Leverage and extend the use of design system, style guides, patterns, and assets in UX deliverables.
- Contribute to the wider UX community, mentoring others.
- Ensure all organization output/visuals align with brand strategy.
- Apply a customer‑focused, iterative design process.
- Make design decisions based on research, insights, and inclusive design best practices.
- Collaborate with Design team members (Research, Content Design, UX Operations, Branding) and Business and Engineering stakeholders.
- Experience leading delivery, including feedback, design critique, and presentation to program sponsors.
- Familiarity with Figma, Framer, Miro, and other standard design tools.
- High craft, visual intuition, typography, color theory, composition, and hierarchy skills.
- Manage multiple projects and navigate ambiguity.
- Ability to synthesize feedback from multiple teams/owners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organization and attention to detail.
- Compelling storyteller who can educate and entertain.
Actual compensation is based on various factors including location and relevant skills. Pay is $188,000 to $323,950 annually, with a performance bonus, equity, and benefits. For more information, visit
