Cybersecurity, Security Management & Operations
Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries. Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.
At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We’re not just developing advanced supermaterials — we’re about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.
We’re entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
The Director, Security owns security across Lyten’s Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) footprint. You will lead Security Operations, Governance / Risk / Compliance (GRC), and OT security; establish an AI-assisted Security Operations Center (AI-SOC); and protect Lyten’s intellectual property across a multi‑site manufacturing enterprise with active compliance obligations. Initially you will operate with a small, reskilled team and trusted partners, building toward a dedicated security organization.
Key Responsibilities Security operations- Establish and run Security Operations / a Security Operations Center (SOC) — initially with reskilled Identity & Access Management (IAM) staff and partners — covering detection, response, and incident management.
- Select and operate core tooling:
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and vulnerability management. - Stand up an AI‑assisted Security Operations Center (AI‑SOC) capability to improve detection and analyst productivity.
- Secure Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and historian systems and plant networks; apply ISA‑95 / IEC 62443 zoning and segmentation.
- Own the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) program:
Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), Service Organization Control 2 (SOC
2), and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) / export‑control readiness; policies and audits. - Define AI / model security and Intellectual Property (IP) / Data Loss Prevention (DLP) guardrails so functions can adopt AI safely.
- Oversee Identity and Access Management (IAM), least‑privilege access, Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Access Management (PAM) across sites.
- Protect battery and graphene Intellectual Property (IP) through data classification and loss‑prevention.
- Build the multi‑year security roadmap and, at scale, hire and lead a dedicated security team (including an AI‑SOC analyst).
- Doctorate degree in related field AND 7+ years of prior relevant experience OR Master’s degree in related field AND 9+ years of prior relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree in related field AND 11+ years of prior relevant experience including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Hands‑on Security Operations, incident response, and Governance / Risk / Compliance (GRC) experience.
- Experience securing Operational Technology (OT) / manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with compliance regimes relevant to defense / manufacturing:
Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), Service Organization Control 2 (SOC
2), and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) / export control. - Ability to operate fractionally and scale a program from foundation to a full team.
