Tax Manager - Corporate

Overview

Baker Tilly is a leading advisory, tax and assurance firm with global practice. The Tax Manager – Corporate will deliver tax and business advisory services and tax compliance to small‑business clients from San Jose, CA.

• Lead client engagements and provide tax, accounting and advisory services to small‑business clients.
• Oversee bookkeeping, prepare financials and analyze accounting records to identify best‑practice solutions.
• Deliver customer service, respond promptly and communicate effectively to clients.
• Plan and manage engagements, evaluate processes, implement efficiencies and control improvements.
• Build and maintain client relationships, delegate work, set goals, remove obstacles and meet delivery deadlines.
• Stay current with local, state and federal tax laws and provide recommendations for business improvements.
• Assist with engagement staffing, billings/collections and ensure profitability targets.
• Network and build relationships internally and externally with clients and the community.
• Support the development of team members through coaching and learning programs.
• Maintain work‑life balance and participate in team social activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; master’s or advanced degree desirable.
• CPA or JD required.
• Five plus years of experience delivering federal and state tax compliance, accounting and advisory services in a professional services firm.
• Two plus years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
• Strong management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, supervise, provide exceptional client service and demonstrate ethical commitment.
• Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred.

Compensation range: $106,000 to $183,000, based on skills, experience and location.
