Green Waste is seeking to fill the position of Sorter to provide support to one or more facilities. This role’s main function will sort a variety of material that ranges from recyclables to trash in order to minimize contamination and to maintain high recyclable rates.

• Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety.
• Be able to extract at least 48 items per minute to maximize the recycling potential.
• Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols.
• Be able to work near others while sorting material from either side of the conveyor belt to increase productivity.
• Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods of time in front of a conveyor belt requiring the use of both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.

• The ability to distinguish between commodities with ease in order separate the material properly.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, and overall reliability to minimize disruptions to the day-to-day operations.
• The ability to work as a team and work well with others.

• Proficiency in English and/or Spanish.

• Requires the ability to handle material weighing up to 50 lbs so that the sort line does not pile up.
• Requires constant pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and grasping material to prevent it from ending up in the wrong commodity container.
• Requires going up and down stairs to reach certain workstations.

Requires working in a fast-paced work environment where there is exposure to loud noises, heat, cold, sharp objects, and odors. Requires the use of a hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, safety vests, and gloves at all times. Work shifts vary. Regular workday may be anywhere from 4-12 hours depending on the daily tonnage. Working overtime is required.
