Reporting to the Bakery Department Head, and supervised by the Pastry Chef, the Bakery Production Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Pastry Chef in providing guidance, supervision and setting a good example for Store Associate (Bakery Production) to follow. He/she is also responsible for producing the assigned products quantity (Bread, Cake and/or other Pastries) based on orders received, controlling quality, inventory and wastage.
T&T Supermarkets has marked over 30 years as Canada’s favorite Asian grocery store and recently announced multiple new store locations in the United States. Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, opened in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and standing as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.
We have established our regional office in the greater Los Angeles area to grow T&T Supermarket’s vendor base with American food suppliers.
You Will- Supervise and provide guidance to Bakery Production Assistants; ensure fair task distribution and effective staff scheduling.
- Oversee the preparation and mixing of ingredients, and monitor the full baking production process.
- Train team members, provide performance feedback, and uphold safety and food handling standards.
- Participate in new product development and support innovation in bakery offerings.
- Maintain product quality, freshness, and inventory levels; ensure FIFO procedures are strictly followed.
- Manage ordering processes to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize waste.
- Address customer inquiries and support service excellence where needed.
- Lead by example by performing production duties when required and promoting a positive work culture.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety in the production area.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.
- Proven experience in producing bakery items (e.g., bread, cakes, and pastries), including dough mixing, cake cutting, and decorating.
- Solid understanding of workplace health & safety and food safety standards; valid Food Safe certification required.
- Experience in supervising bakery production workflows with a focus on cost control and waste reduction.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, guide, and manage team members effectively.
- Well-organized with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Capable of participating in bakery product research and development to support innovation.
- Excellent communication skills; proficiency in English is required, Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
- Flexible to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiar with bakery tools and equipment; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrates job commitment, reliability, and accountability with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
