Destination:
Home, a supporting organization of Silicon Valley Community Foundation is a public-private partnership serving as the backbone organization for collective impact strategies to end homelessness in Santa Clara County. Destination:
Home drives and aligns resources to create permanent housing and sustainable support systems built for the long term. The organization is improving how systems work together to end homelessness, as well as protect individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless.

JOB SUMMARY

Destination:
Home has a unique moment of opportunity to utilize public and private philanthropic capital to create a new Supportive Housing and Innovation Fund. Over the next ten years, the Fund will invest in organizations and programs in Santa Clara County that advance the goals of the Community Plan to End Homelessness. One of the core goals of the Fund is to pilot and scale innovative strategies that prevent and reduce homelessness, and expand proven approaches such as employment programs and skills training services, rent subsidies, and emergency financial assistance.

Destination:
Home is currently seeking a Senior Initiatives Officer to support this area of work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Director of Initiatives, the Senior Initiatives Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Destination:
Home's strategic initiative work, including Homelessness Prevention, Destination:
Work, Technology System Assessment, and more. Primary areas of focus will include:

  • Initiative Implementation: Coordinating with partner organizations to continue to implement key system change initiatives. Create plans to correct programmatic challenges and deficiencies and communicate about Destination:
    Home’s strategic direction, investments, and impact with internal and external partners.
  • Program Development: Supporting the development of new strategic initiative work with both internal and external partners. Collaborate with a variety of organizations to assess, define, and design new system change efforts to prevent and end homelessness. Develop and submit funding proposals for new sources to expand, enhance or sustain existing initiative work.
  • Department Administration: Maintaining ongoing verbal and written communication with both Destination:
    Home grantees and funders to ensure timely grant payments and reporting, accurate budgeting and accounting of funds, and ongoing performance management tracking. Develop operational plans and departmental systems and processes. Evaluate departmental performance, capacity, and needs to make decisions about resource allocation and priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Provide leadership in implementing short- and long-term operational plans and developing departmental systems and processes
  • Have 2-3 years’ experience managing the day-to-day operations of a department or business function, including ability and desire to supervise others
  • Have 2-5 years’ experience in grants administration, program development, budgets, nonprofit compliance, and operations.
  • Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate system-level thinking
  • High degree of independence, initiative, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Be committed to serving our most vulnerable residents
  • Entrepreneurial spirit in seeking new and creative ways to accomplish work and mission
  • Attend events and meetings as required.
  • Business and financial acumen, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
