Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) – San Jose Behavioral Health Hospital

Join the dedicated and passionate nursing team at San Jose Behavioral Health (SJBH), a 133‑bed inpatient mental health facility in Northern California. We provide compassionate, quality care and embrace growth opportunities for our staff.

Full‑time, 5 days a week, 8‑hour shifts. Day shift: 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

• Hourly rate: $60.00 – $69.97

Provide professional nursing care to patients with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, fostering a supportive and therapeutic environment. Patient safety is a priority.

• Assess patients’ physical and behavioral health needs; develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about conditions.
• Deliver care within the scope of practice and facility policies.
• Ensure physician orders are documented accurately.
• Document ongoing status assessments and med administration, including controlled substances.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently.
• Build therapeutic rapport, maintain professional boundaries.
• Coordinate unit activities as directed; communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and coworkers.

• Graduated from an accredited nursing school.
• Current RN license in the state of employment, or eligibility to practice in that state.
• At least one year of nursing experience; psychiatric/mental health or substance‑use nursing experience is a plus.
• CPR and de‑escalation and restraint certification required.
• First aid certification may be required per state or facility requirements.
