Compensation for roles at San Jose Behavioral Health varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, we provide a reasonable hourly range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California.
SJBH Range = $51/hour - $79/hour DOE
Purpose StatementAssists the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising the effective use of nursing operations for assigned units. Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to ensure that all residents' physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are met and, when not, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints.
Provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.
- Anticipates and effectively manages changes in census and acuity, allocating nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
- Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to patient safety.
- Accountable for the standard of care at the facility, providing consultations and expertise in the delivery of care to patients.
- Serves as a clinical and service resource to nursing staff and other staff as assigned.
- Manages the activities of staff, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines.
- Manages and evaluates work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, service or maintenance staff for the unit, work group and other facility staff as directed.
- Analyzes information/situation to choose the best solution(s) to solve problems.
- Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.
- Identifies the educational needs of others and develops educational or training programs.
- Assists with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility.
- Prepares reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services and quality initiatives of the unit.
- Performs administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures.
- Provides direct care as needed.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
- BSN or higher, strongly preferred.
- Current registered nursing license in the state of the facility, required.
- Three years as a registered nurse, strongly preferred.
- Two years of registered nursing experience, required.
- Two years of prior experience as a registered nurse with a patient population of the facility, preferred.
- One year of prior experience with the population, required.
- Prior experience as a house supervisor, strongly preferred.
- One year of charge RN or other administrative experience, required.
- Current RN license as required by state.
- CPR and de‑escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
