About This RoleFiber Tel, LLC is looking for an Aerial Supervisor for our San Jose, CA location. The Aerial Supervisor will oversee a crew, coordinate with the Field Supervisor on daily jobs, manage installations, order and gather equipment and supplies, assess install sites, and prepare install diagrams. The Foreman will train employees and ensure safety protocols are followed and crew members wear proper PPE.
Services may include placing poles, anchors and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services.
Responsibilities What You’ll Do- Ensure crew is on time and performing daily tasks
- Plan & strategize with crew, set goals for job completions
- Perform daily pre-trip, JHA, and monthly safety lessons
- Maintain professionalism with public, customers, and crew
- Obtain prints & permits for all assigned jobs from Supervisor
- Set up & clean up of worksite, plan for no return trips
- Follow all instructions from Supervisor, maintain communication
- Communicate with outside vendors; traffic control & rentals
- Perform proper traffic control and public safety procedures
- As-built and hand in completed prints
- Teach & train all crew members on their tasks
- Submit daily timecards for crew and self
- Contact city officials on permits or communicate with Supervisor
- Use job completion metrics to Supervisor and enter in tracker
- Problem solve & create solutions to keep crew productive
- Create a plan for the following day
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years’ experience in Aerial telecommunications industry
- Experience installing coax and fiber in the ROW
- Excellent understanding with LAN, WAN, and backbone network
- Ability to work in confined & elevated spaces
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Valid driver’s license or eligible to obtain required license
- Good driving record required
- Basic knowledge to operate utility trucks and equipment safely
- Basic knowledge to operate hand tools safely
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus
- Effective communication with customers, employees, etc.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to climb telephone poles, work in bucket truck and aloft up to 40 feet
- Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
- Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry
- Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, strand construction)
- Ability to travel
This is a full‑time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings.
This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand repeated lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling.
